About

My name is Mikayla! I'm a 22 year old University Graduate with a passion for all things beauty. I stumbled into the online beauty community a year ago and have been obsessed with youtube videos and blogs ever since. After watching hundreds of videos over the past year I figured it was about time I joined the community and posted my own thoughts in my own little space. I'm also recently graduated, unemployed and headed for college in September.

I really enjoy all things beauty, and I really like telling my friends what I think about products so writing them down just felt natural. To me, make up isn't something that you wear to make yourself look prettier, it's something you do on yourself for yourself. It has the power to give you strength to tackle a rough day, the courage to find your inner confidence and sparkle like every girl is meant too.

Other than beauty, I love fashion. Beauty and Fashion are the keys to my heart, along with a great deal. I'm all about a decent deal, and budget shopping is my favourite.

I can't wait to start this journey with the internet and all of you!

Rocia Naturals Skincare Review

Sunday 13 September 2015

For the past year or so my skin has not been very co-operative, I've been breaking out pretty much non-stop (hormonal breakouts) no matter the product used, and my skin gets very red. Enter Rocia Naturals Skincare, a brand I had not heard of, but being based near a town I grew up in, I was very excited when they offered to send me a sample of their skincare range.

The products are all natural, and very gentle on the skin. I've been using it for the last month and my skin is starting to get better, and definitely less red around the breakouts. I really like their Olive Oil Cleansing Cake ($12.50/each) (Note: It does burn when it gets in your eyes- all natural does not mean tear free!) I use it with my clarisonic and it works wonders, my skin feel soft and clean without feeling tight and irritated. The concept of it being a solid cleanser is great for travelling, and it works really well, I don't find that it lathers a lot however, which at first made me think my face wasn't being properly cleaned, but it is!

They also sent their Delicate Toner ($20/120ml), which I use with a cotton round after washing my face in the morning and at night, I really like this as well, it doesn't give the tight, squeaky feeling I find a lot of toners give me, but based on the cotton round after, it does it's job well. I do like that it is a spray bottle, as I only use about 3-4 sprays and know that it will do my entire face.

Along with this, they sent me 2 different moisturizing options, I use their Delicate Moisturizer ($35/30g) in the morning, I find it doesn't take a long time to sink into the skin, but it really leaves my skin feeling ready for the day.

At night I use the Quench Extra Hydration Oil($22/15ml), which I pat into my skin using a couple of drops from the dropper (I feel like a scientist) and crawl into bed, I find that my face looks quite shiny after applying this and it takes longer to settle into the skin, in the morning it feels very soft and healthy, but I try to stay up in bed long enough for it to settle to avoid getting it on my pillow (and transferring into my hair).

Overall, I'm really enjoying the brand, especially because it is Canadian, and the prices are within a reasonable price range, especially when you consider number of uses to price. As well I find that having olive oil in the cleanser, and then moisturizing on top of it to be great for the colder months we are heading into!

If you're interested, you can check out their website here which has the skincare options sorted by skin type and need, and product type.

Be sure to check back every day this week for Fall Theme Week, a new post Monday-Friday at 5pm!
