About

My name is Mikayla! I'm a 22 year old University Graduate with a passion for all things beauty. I stumbled into the online beauty community a year ago and have been obsessed with youtube videos and blogs ever since. After watching hundreds of videos over the past year I figured it was about time I joined the community and posted my own thoughts in my own little space. I'm also recently graduated, unemployed and headed for college in September.

I really enjoy all things beauty, and I really like telling my friends what I think about products so writing them down just felt natural. To me, make up isn't something that you wear to make yourself look prettier, it's something you do on yourself for yourself. It has the power to give you strength to tackle a rough day, the courage to find your inner confidence and sparkle like every girl is meant too.

Other than beauty, I love fashion. Beauty and Fashion are the keys to my heart, along with a great deal. I'm all about a decent deal, and budget shopping is my favourite.

I can't wait to start this journey with the internet and all of you!

4 Palettes Worthy of Your Money

Wednesday 9 September 2015

For today's post, I thought I would do a little roundup of the 4 palettes I think are the best in terms of quality and price, for you to actually spend your money on. As a self-professed makeup junkie/shopaholic I like a good deal, the idea of spending multiple hours of work at a minimum wage job on one eyeshadow palette was a lot for me to get over.  Once you work in the concept of how much you would spend on each shade, versus the price of the palette all together, Sephora quality higher end palettes seem to be a little bit more worth it.

Wet 'n' Wild Comfort Zone the cheapest and only drugstore palette of my collection that I reach for quite often. 8 shades of pre-formulated looks labelled with where the shade best goes, easy to mix and match shades and create really beautiful night looks as well as classic daytime looks. I've found this palette available on amazon to be $7.07 making each shade $.88! The Balm Nude 'Tude Nice available online at the balm and somewhat difficult to find in Canada  I used this every day for the longest time, each shade is a little bit shimmery, with no real matte shades in the bunch. The shadows are easy to blend and all work really well together to create so many different looks. For $36.00 each shade is $3.00 still well below a typical single eye shadow at the drugstore.

Lorac Pro The infamous cult favourite I absolutely had to buy while shopping in America. No longer available in Canada, these shadows are seriously buttery and incredibly pigmented. A row of mattes and a row of shimmery shades, this palette is all I need for a week away, and many different eye looks (I use the deep purple shade as a liner ALL THE TIME). Available online (Sorry Canada) at $42.00 with 16 shades, making each shade $2.62. Last but not least, Urban Decay Naked 2 my first ever Urban Decay palette and the one that stole my heart- as a paler person with lighter hair, the taupes in this palette really compliment my skin tone, shadows are smooth and pigmented and apply perfectly, easy to build. Available at spear for $64.00 each shadow is $5.33, a little pricey but still well worth it.

Final Results:
The best in terms of price: Wet 'n' Wild Comfort Zone at $.88 each shade.
The best in terms of quality and price: Lorac Pro at $2.62 each shade.

I love all of these palettes for their own reasons, but hands down my two personal favourites are the Lorac Pro and Urban Decay Naked 2. What is a palette you think is worthy of your money?
